Josefus was an American rock band from Houston, Texas, United States, who have been credited as "one of the first models for the blunt sound of Texas hard rock and heavy metal." They were also mentioned in an article in Classic Rock titled "The Lost Pioneers of Heavy Metal". Josefus has been played on NTS in shows including Black Impulse, featured first on 29 March 2014. Songs played include Dead Man, Proposition and Situation. A Texas band who came from the burgeoning Houston scene in the late 60's.

Josefus was an American rock band from Houston, Texas, United States, who have been credited as "one of the first models for the blunt sound of Texas hard rock and heavy metal." They were also mentioned in an article in Classic Rock titled "The Lost Pioneers of Heavy Metal". Josefus has been played on NTS in shows including Black Impulse, featured first on 29 March 2014. Songs played include Dead Man, Proposition and Situation. A Texas band who came from the burgeoning Houston scene in the late 60's. The members came together (in some form or the other) while still in high school. After making a name locally, signed to a record deal and recorded album that was Galilee, site of Josephus's governorship, before the First Jewish–Roman War Born into one of Jerusalem's elite families, Josephus introduces himself in Greek as Iōsēpos (Ιώσηπος), son of Matthias, an ethnic Jewish priest. He was the second-born son of Matthias (Mattiyah or Mattityahu in Hebrew).

Listen to their Dead Man/Get Off My Case and you'll hear a classic. Choppy riffs, and fantastic writting and playing. This first album is not quite there, but so what: this has all the riffing and blues that Josephus soon expanded on, and if it does not stay in your rotation for years-Dead Man will--it is still a good listen.
